Can anybody give me first hand advice on Mirena for my wife?

She is considering getting it because it was offered by her doctor. We just had a daughter and dont want another for a while. Please dont post links to medical sites, we've done that research we would like any first hand advice on the procedure of getting it and how you feel it worked? Can anybody give me first hand advice on Mirena for my wife?
Ok, so I have never had one, but seeing as you haven't had any answers yet, I thought I would at least let you in on what I know. I work at an OB/GYN office, and we insert a lot of Mirena's. I can honestly tell you that we don't have a lot of complaints about them. The insertion is a really simple 5 minute procedure in which her doctor will clean off her cervix with Iodine, measure the size of her uterus and then insert the device with an applicator. I would advise taking of Motrin about an hour before the procedure, as the insertion can cause mild cramping for a couple of hours after the procedure.

The patients at my office that have Mirena removed usually have it removed because they want to have another baby, or it has been 5 years since they had it inserted and they need a new one. I would advise your wife to expect that her periods could be slightly heavier or longer for the first 3 months of having the Mirena, but that after that, most women have lighter periods, or no periods at all.

Another plus for Mirena is that when you decide to have another baby, removal is really easy and quick, and fertility starts to return right away.

Since you mentioned that you guys have read the medical information, I will assume that you know that there is a small chance that the IUD could be expelled, though this is relatively rare.

Again, I know you were looking for personal experience, but I hope I helped anyways.
