i was hoping for some advice from people that have been before.
you know, things like must see shows, places to avoid, good restaraunts and lively nightclubs.
we're planning a 3 night 4 day trip and arriving on sunday afternoon. much cheaper than weekends. i only plan on doing a little gambling. gonna spend an evening playing craps. but that leaves a lotta time for other stuff so any advice would be helpful. My wife and i are planning our first trip to vegas. any advice?
My wife and I have been to Vegas a number of times over the past number of years.
We try to see different types of shows while we are there.
I'd suggest Terry Fator, I believe the new must see show.
Take in one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows.
Take in a ';Vegas'; style production show
Legends is another good one.
Some other suggestions:
This last trip I went by myself and took in a couple of afternoon shows
Mac King...Comedian/magic show It was a lot of fun, watch for coupons
Price is Right (based on the TV game show)...it gave a good feel on how TV game shows work.
I also saw The Mentalist, Mesmerized and Fantasy. Which were all good and worth the cost and time
I saw Crazy Horse at MGM...don't waste the time or money. The show is quite lame and way over priced.
I found a great burger place for lunch in the shops at Planet Hollywood. Called (I believe) Hawaiian Burger. Very unique and very good.
You say that you will do only a little gambling, stay to your gambling budget! It can get expensive very quickly.
Have fun, wear good shoes and drink lots of waterMy wife and i are planning our first trip to vegas. any advice?
If you plan to go to nightclubs like you said make sure you bring nice clothes. Most the clubs have dress codes. Going during the week should make it so the lines arent as bad but you might want to show up to them early so you dont have to wait forever. Be ready to pay anywhere from $10-30 to get into the clubs too. I would recommend Studio 54 at the MGM
The MGM has some tigers that walk around in a big glass enclosure and its free to see. There are some white tigers walking around in a similar structure at the Mirage I believe. They also have Dolphins and a Shark exhibit you can check out. I think the sharks are at Mandalay Bay.
Walking the strip can be fun, realize that places arent as close as they seem and taking a taxi is usually a good way to get around
There are a ton of grat things to do in vegas.
For shows theres a great cheapie in planet hollywood called the Variety show. They are world class famous acts for a real cheap \. Its great.
For nightclubs I suggest you use http://cheapvegasclubs.com/ they have a party planner that can get you into all the best nightclubs on the best night. They are by far the cheapest and often have free open bars and free drinks as well. They can also do drop offs at your hotel
A great restuarant is the eiffel tower at paris. The food is great the service is great and the view is fantastic. Every table overlooks the bellagio fountains.
Fantastic city.....just walking the strip is great but the casinos are all beautiful...be sure to go to the best ones like MGM and NY NY.(there are so many) The shows are all great but a bit expensive... The circus shows are fantastic and about 4 of them now. One the strip there are about 4 discount places for shows and restaurants(check where the are)...Get there early...everything is posted on a monitor and you get the tickets there.
Don't miss the mile of shops in Planet Hollywood... and they have about a dozen restaurants in there from expensive to reasonable ...and all good
This is just a start.... you will have a great time !!!.

Do you already have a hotel room? If not my advise is to book directly with the hotel website in order to get the best price. In addition you can lower your rates through promotion codes. A good source is http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - you will find the latest promo codes there.

if you'd prefer some nightlife, you can check out Cleopatra's Bar, the Priv茅 or the Ghost Bar, which is set high above Las Vegas, and is a indoor-outdoor lounge with sky deck on the 55th floor of the Palms Casino Resort. The lounge gets its name from from 30 foot ghost shaped rotating soffit that hangs above.
If you're interested in checking out the Grand Canyon or the Hoover Dam, there are also many different packages one can pick. This can be a nice day excursion from the fun, but busy city.
Got a music fan in the family? Las Vegas has you covered there too, from rockers like Air Supply and Fallout Boy, to pioneers of the industry such as Elton John, and yes even Britney Spears, whatever style of music you're into, odds are they're playing in Vegas.
If you want to do some serious relaxing, a spa is the way to go. There are many choices from the Ritz-Carlton Spa to the Spa Costa del Sur, each with their own amenities and specialties. For example, the Ritz-Carlton focuses on treatments that address the effects of the high desert sun, while Spa Costa del Sur focuses on simplicity in relaxation from cascading waterfall showers to stone fireplaces, hope it helps.
