I had my gallbladder out last year and it was a very simple, 20-30 minute procedure. I got to the hospital around 7:30 and they brought me to the operating room sometime after 9:30. By 11:30-12, the nurse was telling me that I can go home whenever I'm ready. The first couple of days, I was in a little pain but of course that is normal. I did not eat much after. I drank a lot of water before and after the surgery to stay hydrated and I would eat a few crackers or soft foods like apple sauce. I had my surgery on a Friday and I was back to work the following Wednesday. I could have gone to work that Tuesday but I decided to take advantage of the situation and stay home an extra day.
