Moving to hawaii as military wife, im nervous any advice?

How will we get around before our car gets there, we are planning on living off base, will my 1 year old adjust ok?Moving to hawaii as military wife, im nervous any advice?
Just take one day at a time. Is your car coming with your household goods? Sometimes it doesn't really take that long to receive your stuff. We got our stuff in just three days in this last move. We were AMAZED!!

There should be some help there for you. Tell you husband to let his command know that you two are car-less and have a 1 year old. Many people should be there to help. If you have to rent a car, keep the receipts!! They should reimburse you for your travel expenses.

I would be willing to bet that your 1 year old adjusts better than you and your husband. It's really not that much different than the US, and your child is only 1, and doesn't remember much at the moment.Moving to hawaii as military wife, im nervous any advice?
The real adjustment for your kid will be when it's time to leave Hawaii. Auwe!

Moving to Hawaii will be one of your great life experiences! There are car rentals right on Schofield and you'll probably have a car allowance. When looking for a house, try Mililani or Waipio Gentry. These places are only a few minutes from Wheeler and Schofield. Hawaii is also probably the best place in the world to raise your kid!
What city will you be living in? I live on Oahu. You can send me an email. But you could rent a car until your car arrives. They might have military discounts. Let me know first what city you'll be in so I could further help you. And I think your 1yr old should be ok. Not as bad as if you had like an 8 or 10 yr old who would understand what is going on and can feel the change. And just to let you know, Hawaii is not like the mainland. Where it takes forever from one place to another. This island is small. We think that 40 min drive to one place is long!! So I think you should be ok...in fact, you'll be so excited to be here. You might not want to leave...I live in a townhouse area and we have a lot of military people renting. The ones I talked to, love it here. And they learned fast on getting around just because this island is small. The only bad thing is that it's so EXPENSIVE.
I would suggest you rent a car for a bit when you get here. You're sure to get a good deal if you're renting by the week. Don't forget your child's car seat as it's required by law!

As far as your 1 year old adjusting.....I'm sure he/she will be fine! Your baby will probably adjust much faster than you will!

Keep in mind that the weather is much warmer here so don't overdress your child and you'll be fine!

Happy moving and welcome to paradise!
Dude. It's Hawaii. Enjoy the opportunity you get to live in paradise. I'm sure your baby will do just fine. Depending on where you are from, getting used to the weather might take a bit of time and, like anywhere else, you will need to get the lay of the land, but you'll do fine. Don't sweat it.
I wanna go to Hawaii....
